No videos, no catchy stuff here tonight. The Pirates lost and I'm annoyed. Niese pitched decently, but it wasn't enough.
Despite having two runners in scoring position in each of the sixth and seventh innings, the Pirates fell to the Marlins 3-2. Tony Watson uncharacteristically gave up the winning run and got the loss, which is the first run he’s allowed since April 27 and the first hit he’s allowed since May 6, having gone 7 innings in his last 7 appearances without yielding a hit.
The one bright spot was Matt Joyce yet again coming off the bench and doing what he does. This guy has been a pure joy(ce) to watch this year.
The Marlins aren’t very good outside Jose Fernandez and Marcell Ozuna and the Pirates need to win against them when Jose Fernandez isn’t pitching. They just couldn’t get the bats rolling early enough and ended up losing out. Sometimes you just lose, I suppose.
Trying to salvage a split is the goal now; first pitch tomorrow is at 7:10pm EDT.
